The Summerset Owners Association is comprised of the owners of 437 residences in Summerset SD. These residences are governed by covenants and the members pay dues. The covenants can be found by clicking on the Covenants Tab on this page. The information on the payment of dues is located on the Dues Tab.
The SOA meets quarterly on the second Wednesday of January, April, July and October, with the April meeting being our ANNUAL MEETING. The meeting time is 6:30 p.m. at the Meeting Room of Summerset City Hall. You will be reminded of the meetings with the quarterly billing that is sent out the month prior to the meeting. We strongly urge you to attend your SOA meetings as YOUR INVOLVMENT AND INPUT CAN AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
The SOA Board is comprised of residents interested in being involved in their community, and in helping to maintain the beauty of our area, and therefore, our property values. This is a volunteer Board and we can always use more members willing to give of their time. The time commitment of a Board Member is not excessive and if you would like to learn more, please contact us by one of the methods listed under the Contact Tab at the top of this Home Page.
The SOA dues cover a variety of services and expenses. Paid dues allow your use of the yard waste site on Recreation Road. This site provides for the dumping of yard waste, leaves, branches, and Christmas trees, which are not accepted for collection by most of the waste collection companies in the area.
The Association also monitors our area for compliance in all aspects of the covenants. Should you notice a violation, you may contact the Association to get it resolved, thereby avoiding unpleasant encounters with a resident. Should further action be required, the dues pay for any necessary actions allowed by the covenants, including any legal process used. Ensuring compliance with our covenants helps to maintain the beauty of our community and the value of our property.
This Association has purchased the land now used as the City Park, which we donated to the City along with funds used for improvements in the Park. The City plans on finishing this Park summer of 2013. The SOA is currently looking into purchasing additional land adjacent to the park for expansion.
Some of the expenses paid for by the Association dues are property taxes and upkeep on the yard waste site, as well as a monitor for the site. We pay for the services of a bookkeeper, an attorney for consultation, and an accountant to file our tax returns.
The SOA hosts and pays for advertising the Annual Citywide Yard sale the 3rd weekend of June.
Any and all suggestions, comments, and questions can be directed to the SOA at any of the methods found under the Contact Us Tab.
